The Lipsticks I’m Hoarding in My Purse Right Now

by Larkin Clark

Lipstick is like the security blanket of the beauty-verse. Even if the rest of your face looks like ass, you can usually distract people with a really great lip.

For this reason, I usually have about three lipsticks in my purse at any given time. This may seem excessive to a normal person, but I am not a normal person. I am a beauty writer who grew up with a mother who still, to this day, refuses to leave the house without lipstick on. My security blanketing is thick.

I have an extensive collection, but these colors consistently make it into my purse rotation – which means they’re used regularly and not just for styling or special occasions. Are they the newest shades on the market? No. But they’ve all be road-tested and rate high in terms of versatility, color pigment, and long-lasting wear. (Unfortunately, not all of them are natural, but I’ll share more of those in the future.) The Sephora and Stila picks do tend to dry out a bit, so add a little clear gloss to keep them looking fresh. Pucker up.
